Sri Lanka this week borrowed $1.5 billion from Iran reportedly to fund infrastructure projects, including an expansion of the island’s only oil refinery, press reports said Wednesday. Ankara, A Turkish plane with 54 people aboard crashed in central Turkey early Friday, Turkish private TV channel NTV reported.

According to Semsettin Uzun, Governer of Isparta province of Turkey, there were 49 passengers and five crewmembers on board, and the plane belonged to the private airline company AtlasJetair. It disappeared from radar screens between 1:45 and 02:00 a.m.

Dubai, The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to revalue its currency, the dirham, which is pegged to the US dollar, as early as Sunday following the greenback’s continuing decline in the global market, according to a report here.
