Satyam case: SC grants bail to PwC auditor

The Supreme Court granted bail to PriceWaterhouseCoopers auditor Srinivas Talluri who was arrested in Satyam fraud case for allegedly conniving with its founder B Ramalinga Raju and other aides.

A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan directed Talluri to furnish a personal bond of Rs 20 lakh and two sureties of like amount.

Inflation-hit Govt wary of increasing fuel prices

The Union Government, already under fire over rising prices, is unlikely to accept the recommendations of Prime Minister-appointed expert group of increasing LPG and kerosene prices.

The panel’s recommendation of freeing petrol and diesel prices is also not likely to be implemented, said highly placed sources.

The sources said that the panel headed by former Planning Commission member Kirit Parikh has made just a recommendation and its report is yet to be submitted to the Union Government.

Sources in the Home Ministry — where four meetings were held to finalize the Padma awards — confirm that Chatwal’s nomination was backed by not one but four written recommendations.
