Tendulkar Opus to carry iconic player’s blood

The publishers of Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography ’Tendulkar Opus’ has decided to come out with a special edition of the book which will have the iconic batsman’s blood on the signature page.

The “blood edition” of Tendulkar’s autobiography, which will have pictures of his family not published earlier and thoughts about his career, will be released in February next year to coincide with the Cricket World Cup in the sub-continent.

L&T General Insurance to commence operations soon

L&T General Insurance Company Limited on Monday announced that the general insurance arm of the $9.8 billion Larsen & Toubro (L&T) would commence its operations soon.

The company has received the necessary licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) for commencing the operations.

Takeover norms: panel for raising acquisition threshold to 25 %

The Achuthan Committee on Takeover Regulations has recommended an increase in the acquisition threshold for the initial trigger of an open offer from the current level of 15 per cent to 25 per cent of the voting capital of a listed company.

While no change has been recommended in the annual creeping acquisition limit of 5 per cent, the committee has recommended that creeping acquisition be permitted only to acquirers who already hold more than 25 per cent of the voting capital, subject to the aggregate post-acquisition shareholding not exceeding the maximum permissible …

The son of senior Gujarat Congress leader and former minister Hasmukh Patel is reported to have gone missing from a hotel in Hardoi today.

67 killed in train smash

At least 67 persons were killed and 121 injured when the Sealdah-bound New Cooch Behar-Sealdah Uttarbanga Express rammed the Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express from behind at the Sainthia station in the early hours of Monday.

The engine of the Uttarbanga Express and the parcel van and two general compartments of the Vananchal Express were completely destroyed. So great was the impact of the collision that one of the general compartments was flung over the footbridge of the station.

TNA meets Karunanidhi

A delegation of MPs from the Tamil National Alliance met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi today to seek India’s intervention in accelerating rehabilitation of displaced Tamils in Sri Lanka.

“We have requested the intervention of India and the Chief Minister for the welfare of Tamils,” R Sambandan, who led the delegation of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MPs, told reporters after the meeting with Karunanidhi.
